The main house on Biltmore contains more than 250 rooms, making it the largest privately owned home in the world. A short drive from the city, the sprawling estate includes landscaped gardens, stables, expansive hiking trails, and an award-winning winery. Go on a guided tour of the Renaissance-inspired house to learn about the Vanderbilt family, who built this large family home between 1889 and 1895. You may prefer a coach tour of the 3,237 hectare (8,000 acre) estate, where you'll learn how this land was developed and visit areas generally not open to regular guests. Explore the website to determine which tour is best suited to your interests, and reserve your tickets at least two days in advance. Put Biltmore and other Asheville attractions into our Asheville trip itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

What can you say about Biltmore? I went in December so it was decorated for the season. I went both night and day. I liked both times. Rooms look different under different lighting. Definitely use the audio guide. Really a well rounded tour showing how the family and friends used the house but also how the servants lived. One thing I was surprised about was the lack of a visitor center to get oriented to the site and a movie of it all. But once there I didn't miss it. I was thrilled with having rooms to myself to take pictures and really see the rooms fully. I hear in warmer weather it is quite packed. There is music at night at Christmas season which was a real treat. Can't stop smiling about my time there
Everything about our visit was great. Such a beautiful home. So much history, so many unique rooms, furniture, and decor. Incredible view out back. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Shuttles ran continuously, driven by knowledgeable and friendly men. So glad they were heated because it was cold. Can’t say enough great things about this hone, will be back in Spring when everything is in bloom.
