Learn the story of Scotland's Braveheart at National Wallace Monument. Wherever you are in Stirling, it's hard not to notice the 67 m (220 ft) Gothic tower looming above. The sandstone monument sitting atop Abbey Craig commemorates Sir William Wallace, a leader of the Wars of Scottish Independence in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. See Wallace's sword here, enter the Hall of Heroes to view more monuments to prominent Scots, and take in views of Stirling, Ben Lomond, and the Ochil Hills. For additional context and details about the site and Wallace, pick up an audio guide for a supplemental fee at the beginning of your visit. The views at the top of the tower are just simply breathtaking, can see whole of Stirling. WELL DONE Wallace staff you have done yourselves and Stirling proud.
  • Staff were friendly and helpful. The hill climb to the monument has many beautiful wooden statues which break up the journey with interesting information. There is also a shuttle bus available. The monument itself is brilliant. Lots of historical, and interactive activities to break up your climb to the top. The ascent is worth it, the views from the top are incredible. Well worth a visit.
