  • "Homeless Jesus" is a bronze sculpture by Timothy Schmalz that depicts Jesus as a homeless person, sleeping on a bench with nothing for protection from the elements except a blanket. The blanket just about covers the face down to the ankles of Jesus. The feet are expose and the crucifixion wounds on his feet identifying the individual as Jesus. There are many copies of this statue all over the world and this one in Glasgow was installed in 2017, in Nelson Mandela Place, at the back of the St. Georges Tron Church. I'm not a religious man, but this at least made me think a little more about compassion especially when you consider that my fair city does have a problem with homelessness.
