Visit the partly restored Falkland Palace & Garden and discover what life was like for the Stuart monarchs. Stroll through the tranquil grounds, relax in the orchard, play a game on the giant checkerboard, and find the 16th-century tennis court. Admire the palace's Renaissance architecture, which made it a favorite of Mary, Queen of Scots, reminding her of the châteaux where she lived as a child. Step inside and explore the keeper’s quarters, chapel royal, old library, and royal apartments, all filled with period furnishings and artworks. Talk to one of the expert guides to learn more about the palace’s history, including tales of imprisonment, escapes, and murder. The on-site shop sells souvenirs and plants. Lovely place and well worth a visit. Sadly only the gardens open at present due to the restrictions. Felt very safe. No pre booking required, lots of nice gardens to wander in. Not many people... more »

Despite the rainy weather we went to these gardens and they are truly beautiful. We didn’t get inside the palace, I’m not sure if that’s an offer or if it was just off due to COVID. Free entry... more »

Impressed with how the National Trust has improved this visitor attraction with the support of volunteers, visitors and the owners. Falkland Palace has been restored to portray former glories let alone improvements made. All staff are expertly aligned and akin to all historical aspects and facets of this majestic Palace and blooming colourful flowers and other garden living and non-living items. Highly recommended to visit especially with children to encapsulate their imagination and interest with Lego figure hunts. The village itself is a treasure trove for visitors.

I didn't see Jamie Fraser standing at the fountain, but the little town was fabulous. Outlander has taken me to many places that I may have never noticed. Falkland Palace and Garden were so beautiful and wrapped in history! Mary Queen of Scots wore men's britches as she played tennis on "The Royal Tennis Court". Definitely enjoy the little shops in town and grab a bite to eat!!
