I recently bought an online tasting for two as a Christmas present, I was first impressed with the speedy and safe delivery of the tasting pack, but the event itself was better than we could have... more »

This is a great macro tour of whiskey distilling in Scotland. They provide an excellent overview of the different whiskey regions and their signatures. Depending on the tour you select, depends on how many you can taste. While I strongly recommend actually visiting a few distilleries, this is a good start to overview the region. They also have a donated whiskey collection of +3,000 whiskeys on display.

Firstly you jump onto the barrel ride/tour thing that takes you through the single malt whisky making procedure. This was informative but a bit dull. Definitely needs a bit of spark in it somewhere. Unfortunately the screens in one section weren't working which only meant we had the sound but not the visual experience. Our guide Sonia (sorry if it's the wrong spelling!) took it from there. We went into a cinema like room where we had a presentation of the different regions where the whisky is produced. In this we also had a scratch'n sniff card that had a scratch section for each region where the whisky is produced to show the distinct difference between them, this added to the experience very much. We went for the tasting then in the world's largest private whisky collection. This was a very enjoyable experience made better by our guide having a love and passion for the whisky and teaching us how to make the most from the whisky. Would definitely recommend this for whisky lovers and newbies!
