#40 of 843 in Things to do in Edinburgh
Monument · Landmark
Standing on Candlemaker Row, the bronze statue Greyfriars Bobby Memorial Statue commemorates the fidelity of Bobby, a Skye terrier. As legend goes, Bobby was the loyal and tenacious watchdog of John Gray, Constable of Edinburg. When his master died tragically, Bobby would go to Greyfriars Kirkyard to sleep on his master’s grave every night. This is an easy stop if you’re visiting Greyfriars Kirkyard. Rub his nose for luck.
