Considered a masterpiece of urban architecture, Georgian House provides a look at city life in the 18th century. Situated in the commercial heart of Edinburgh, the house remains virtually unchanged since its construction in the 1790s, when well-heeled city dwellers began to flee the cramped neighborhoods of the old town. Designed by architect Robert Adam and packed with period china, silver, paintings, and furniture, the house provides a rare glimpse into the domestic and social conditions of the 18th century. Take a self-guided tour of the kitchen, dining rooms, and basement to see how the other half lived in Georgian Edinburgh. Very interesting museum about the life of a family in the Georgian times. There rooms and objects are beautifully displayed and conserved. I also would like to highlight the amazing staff that works here, they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The visit is 9 pounds for adults and they have toilets on the second floor. There is a souvenir and gift shop. There are costumes and stickers to keep children entertained. We spent around 2 hours here.
A great experience and worth every penny of the 8£ entry fee. The place is lovely put together with lots of details. In every room there is a helpful and knowledgeable person who is happy to tell you more.
