Must see · History Museum · Ship
Learn more about the story of one of the bravest expeditions of the 20th century at Discovery Point. Climb aboard Discovery, the original ship Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton sailed to the Antarctic in 1901. A guided tour will take you above and below deck, and show you the original navigation system. Multimedia displays made of sculptures, photos, and computer-based art illustrate how the crew lived, what they ate, and how they passed their time. Learn about the crew's hobbies through artifacts such as letters, watercolors, and card games. Although the crew of the Discovery rationed out their food supply, you can enjoy a meal at Cafe at the Point. Check out the gift shop, which sells Dundee-edition Monopoly. The ship is wheelchair accessible. For Discovery Point and beyond, use our Dundee visit planner to get the most from your Dundee vacation.

  • Very interesting but I only had a limited time to visit so didn't see everything that is there. I concentrated on the ship so missed out on the museum but did have a quick look through and the displays were amazing along with the stories that go with them. Very friendly & helpful staff and hope I will get back before my annual ticket expires.
  • Really enjoyed the trip round the museum. Lots of things to see and do. Worth the entrance price. You can get a audio tour as well. (Would be helpful if the supplied headphones to listen to it instead of having to put it up to your ear) but that said it was really enjoyable.
