The Sultanate's second city, Salalah has become known as a southerly counterpoint to the capital in the north.
On the 30th (Fri), take in the spiritual surroundings of Sultan Qaboos Mosque, then get outside with Wadi Darbat, and then delve into the distant past at Sumhuram Old City. On the 1st (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: enjoy the sand and surf at Al Mughsail Beach, then explore the fascinating underground world of Marneef Cave, then explore the historical opulence of Taqah Castle, and finally examine the collection at Museum of the Frankincense Land.

Muscat to Salalah is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also take a bus. In November in Salalah, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 27°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Sat) early enough to travel to Nizwa.

Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): browse the eclectic array of goods at Nizwa Souk, then buy something for everyone on your list at Nizwa Grand Mall, then delve into the distant past at Bahla Fort, and finally explore the historical opulence of Jibreen Castle.

Fly from Salalah to Nizwa in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Salalah in December, things will get much colder in Nizwa: highs are around 19°C and lows about 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) to allow time to travel to Khasab.

A lively provincial capital, Khasab has been termed the "Norway of Arabia," because of its dramatic coastline, where dramatic inlets resemble the fjords of Scandinavia.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): contemplate the waterfront views at Khawr Najd, don't miss a visit to Khasab Fort, and then explore the historical opulence of Festung Cacapo.

Traveling by flight from Nizwa to Khasab takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of taxi, bus, car, and ferry. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon) early enough to catch the flight to Muscat.

The capital and largest city of Oman, the coastal city of Muscat boasts numerous historical sites and pristine modern developments.
