The largest city on the western coast of Sumatra, Padang enjoys a reputation as one of Indonesia's cleanest and greenest cities despite its hub of residential and commercial activity.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Lubuk Nyarai and Bungus Beach. Get outdoors at Sarasah Gadut Waterfall and Air Manis Beach. Explore Padang's surroundings by going to Danau Diatas (in Painan) and Lake Singkarak (in Solok). And it doesn't end there: stop by Kripik Balado Shirley, make a trip to Ulakan Mosque, step off the mainland to explore Wisata pulau pagang, and examine the collection at Museum Adityawarman.

To find reviews, more things to do, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Padang itinerary website.

If you are flying in from Malaysia, the closest major aiport is Minangkabau International Airport. In January, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
