Pigeon Forge

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Kids will enjoy Christmas Place and The Village Shops. For shopping fun, head to All Sauced Up or Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen at The Village. Venture out of the city with trips to Dillsboro Chocolate Factory (in Dillsboro), Bearmeats Indian Den (in Cherokee) and Bryson City Outdoors (in Bryson City). There's still lots to do: stop by Sandman's Workshop, get your game on at WonderWorks, take a memorable tour with Tours, and examine the collection at Smoky Mountain Knife Works.

For ratings, where to stay, and more tourist information, read Pigeon Forge vacation planning website.

Expect a daytime high around 53°F in December, and nighttime lows around 36°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
