One of Europe's most culturally diverse cities, Stockholm extends over 14 islands, united by a series of tunnels and bridges.
Stockholm Old Town and Fargfabriken are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Appreciate the collections at Vasa Museum and Royal Palace. There's much more to do: head off the coast to Langholmen, get engrossed in the history at Royal Armory, hunt for treasures at Ostermalm Saluhall, and see the interesting displays at Skansen.

You can fly from Copenhagen to Stockholm in 4 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. In May, daytime highs in Stockholm are 19°C, while nighttime lows are 6°C. On the 4th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Reykjavik.

You can fly from Stockholm to Reykjavik in 7 hours. Another option is to do a combination of car and ferry. The time zone difference moving from Central European Time to Greenwich Mean Time is minus 1 hour. When traveling from Stockholm in May, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Reykjavik: temperatures range from 11°C by day to 3°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Sun) early enough to travel to Inverness.

Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
On the 7th (Mon), shop like a local with Castle Gallery, then enjoy the sand and surf at Rosemarkie Beach, then look for gifts at The Cheese House, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Nairn Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, then kick back and relax at Loch Morlich, and then identify plant and animal life at Loch Garten Nature Reserve.
