Blessed with picturesque lochs and a dramatic, rocky coastline, the far-flung Isle of Skye remains one of Scotland's most beloved destinations.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Sun): explore the galleries of Trotternish Art Gallery and then explore the striking landscape at The Quiraing. Keep things going the next day: take in the dramatic natural features at The Old Man of Storr, then don't miss a visit to Neist Point, and then take in the exciting artwork at JR Art Gallery (Jeremy Rossiter).

Traveling by car from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. In May, plan for daily highs up to 56°F, and evening lows to 44°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) so you can go by car to Fort William.

Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Ben Nevis and Nevis Range Mountain Resort. Step out of the city life by going to Steall Waterfall and Glencoe Lochan. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Fort William: Glen Etive (in Glencoe Village) and Buachaille Etive Mor (in Ballachulish). The adventure continues: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Andrew's Church, take a spin around town with Craig Dubh Mountaineering, and stop by The Granite House.

Arisaig is a village in Lochaber, Inverness-shire, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, within the Rough Bounds. Get in touch with nature at Camusdarach Beach and Falls of Glomach. Go for a jaunt from Arisaig to Kyle of Lochalsh to see Eilean Donan Castle about 1h 25 min away. There's much more to do: take a memorable drive along Morar Beach, see the interesting displays at Land Sea and Islands Centre, and look for gifts at Ardshealach Smokehouse & Fine Foods.

You can drive from Fort William to Arisaig in an hour. In May in Arisaig, expect temperatures between 55°F during the day and 44°F at night. On the 21st (Sun), you'll travel back home.
