Designated a World Heritage Site in 1995, Luang Prabang sits at the meeting point of two rivers and offers numerous opportunities for sailing, climbing, and exploring scenic caves and waterfalls.
Luang Prabang is known for nature, shopping, wildlife, museums, and classes. The riverside capital of Laos, Vientiane still has a relatively small urban area and a laid-back, relaxed feel to it.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Fri): contemplate the long history of Great Sacred Stupa (Pha That Luang), appreciate the history behind Patuxai, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Ho Phra Keo, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Si Saket, then pause for some photo ops at Black Stupa (That Dam), and finally browse the eclectic array of goods at Morning Market. On the 18th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stop by Mai Savanh Lao, then snap pictures at Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, then stroll around Buddha Park, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Si Muang.
