I visited at night which turned out to be amazing. The gold really stands out and the peacefulness of this place can be felt. Not a lot of traffic around 7pm when I visited. Some great eateries nearby too. Find the white elephant inside after climbing the 300 plus steps!
Little touristy but I guess you have to live up with that. It's well maintained and the souvenirs shop over there are pretty interesting. We found some interesting goods at good deal (Please Bargain). I just felt in love with the Buddha Painting which I got there!!! Also, the food stalls out there are worth trying. Do visit if you are in Chang Mai.
