See a historical piece of technology in action at Camera Obscura, housed in an old water tower. Visit this tallest building in town, and make your way to the top for views of the surrounding city and countryside. While the technology dates back to the 15th century, the circular projection screen appears much like a live video. You'll receive an overview from a member of staff about the history of the city, its culture, and the landmarks you'll see on the screen. Definitely felt like it was worth the €5 per adult for the tour! Our (English language) guide was great & knows the town so well, it’s a perfect way to get an idea of how you want to spend your time there! But also a bit about the history of the town. It’s not like a regular digital camera - because it’s using a lens & mirror the “resolution” is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! Would 100% definitely recommend as one of the first things you do in Tavira, maybe just after cooling down with an ice cream nearby!
