Gradually swallowed by the Namib desert's sand storms, Kolmanskop Ghost Town once served as a thriving diamond mining community established by the colonial Germans. The town's supplies were slowly exhausted during World War I, and the site was completely abandoned in 1954. Take a guided tour to explore the alleys and streets covered knee-deep in sand, as well as the surrounding public institutions and facilities. The weather can get very hot here, so carry extra water and sunscreen with you. Make Kolmanskop Ghost Town a part of your Luderitz vacation plans using our Luderitz trip itinerary planner.
