Cattedrale di Santa Maria, Alghero

#3 of 14 in Historic Sites in Alghero
Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Climb the colossal Cattedrale di Santa Maria, parts of which are World Heritage Sites, and gaze over the red roofs of Florence. The cathedral's dome displays Gothic architectural elements, both from the outside and the inside, and the structure's interior abounds with elegant artistic depictions, both on the walls and ceilings. You can climb to the very top of the bell tower to enjoy panoramic views, although you might want to avoid the cramped ascent if you suffer from claustrophobia. Take a tour in one of several languages or participate in mass, and prepare for your visit in advance to avoid wasting time waiting in queues. • If you are passing by go inside and visit it. I like it inside. Raw decor but I like it. Not to much gold and other rich things I don't like in continental churches.  more »
  • I went to mass here, the inside is different to how you would imagine looking at the building its self, a large beautiful altar, interesting architecture.  more »
