  • Remnants from the ancient Javanese kingdom of the 8-9 centuries, Ratu Boko is a hilltop temple with a mix of Buddhist & Hindu structures.  more »
  • It was said that the sunset looked beautiful, but it was cloudy in the morning, so the morning sun looked rather beautiful. There are attractions such as the former go-miya, square and round water tanks (those dug on the ground), but it is on a fairly steep hill, and the site is vast, so it takes quite a long time to go around all the attractions.

  • I think the best time to come to Ratu Boko is during weekdays and not holiday season. So that you could take the sunset picture perfectly before anyone else. The ticket is 40.000 rupiah for local people and it's closed by 6 pm. Make sure you come by before that. There is also restaurant downstairs where you could enjoy the view of sunset while having a cup of tea. Although there is Grabbike station where you can order online taxi, but it might be hard to find on the evening. Better to rent a motorbike to come here
  • One of the many temple in Yogyakarta. Candi Ratu Boko are one huge area of ancient temple that scattered around the complex. Many of the temple are still on a original condition. Every temple are located quiet far from each other and lack of trees made the journey quiet hot if you visit this place at a sunny day. But that's worth it tho because every temple are different from one each other and have uniqueness on their own. The lack of information in every temple means that a guide are a requirement if you wanna know every detail of history about this place. If you're tired sight seeing, you can take a rest on every small vendor that sells snacks and drinks in the near of entrance. And the staff from ticketing until guide are very friendly typical local people there. 5/5 must visit place if you like temple and stuff.
