Remember the tragedy caused by a major natural disaster at Museum Tsunami Aceh. Enter the building through a narrow corridor between two high walls of falling water, recreating a small fraction of the terrible power of the 2004 tsunami. Inside, find a large open space for contemplation, as well as pictures, videos, recovered objects, and names of those lost in the disaster. Some of the images are quite graphic, which may not make this attraction suitable for young children. The building also serves as an emergency shelter, in case of future tsunamis.     It was a noble idea to set up the Tsunami Museum but many areas need upgrading or cleaning or just some TLC Still it was a worthwhile visit  more »

    This is a museum designed as a symbolic reminder of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami disaster, as well as an educational center and an emergency disaster shelter in case the area is ever.....  more »

    Great museum, it gave me a strange feeling when i enter the building. The architect of this museum designed a place that create sequences and make visitors feels like they were in the situation of the accident. Unfortunately it wasn't well maintained, many dioramas, installation were broken, and not well functioning. Many sections were closed, i finished my visit in just 1 hour (i expect more). Located heart of Banda Aceh city, the building has distinct architecture style compared to another building in the city. A must visit.
