#7 of 193 in Museums in Berlin
Jewish Museum Berlin is one of Europe's largest venues dedicated to Jewish history. A sobering exhibit dedicated to the reign of the Third Reich presents Germany through the eyes of the Jewish minority. Important events in Jewish history are portrayed via fine art, manuscripts, photographs, and family memorabilia. Two millennia of German-Jewish history are on display in the permanent exhibit space, as well as in several changing presentation areas. All of this is spread over two buildings, one of which is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. The staff can accompany you through the exhibits. Or you can use an audio guide and explore this comprehensive history museum at your own pace. • I went through it in January 2019 by what the permanent exhibition was closed for remodeling. But Libeskind sign favorably surprised me. It is a very strong emotional intensity. I recommend two basic things. (A) rent audio guide is necessary to delve into the sensations that intends the space and B} suggest anticipated visit topography of Terror to then visit this museum. Check your conscience if after touring it is indifferent.

  • The museum exhibit is small but informative. Upper exhbit was closed today. It gives but a small, shallow glimpse of the Holocaust and Jewish identity. Israeli politics are kept family-friendly. The souvenir shop is varied but prices are a bit too high for trinkets and postcards. Books are good, though.
  • I have been to this museum twice now and each time it has been insightful and moving. The permanent exhibition is harrowing, housed in breathtaking architecture, and the current exhibition Welcome to Jerusalem presented an interesting history of the famous city. The food in the cafe is also excellent.
