Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve reviews

This is a wonderful forest worth taking time to understand the wilderness. It’s a cloud forest, it was very exciting for us to see the cloud elevation below us. We found each host mature tree to have many ferns, orchids, and mosses. We did not see any mammals nor birds but that did not lessen the closeness with nature. Plan on going to the look-out-point later after the clouds have dispersed. The bridge has a limitation of 10 people. So be aware. Some paths could be slippery based on ground wetness. Plan on a good pair of shoes. There is a limitation on the number of tourists in the forest, maybe 250. Each tourist is provided with a wrist band that is scanned at entry and exit. Overall this is a very well managed reservation. It is an advertised fact that 100% of proceeds from ticket sales goes towards conservation, research and environmental education.

One of those once in a lifetime experiences! Anyone that loves animals, especially birds, and nature must go to Monteverde. A totally different microclimate from where we normally visit but that is not a bad thing. Our guide was incredible. I highly recommend taking in a guided tour. Unless you're familiar with the fauna and know what to look for it will be a nice walk through the trees and nothing else. We saw many birds that without the guide we'd have walked right past. Prepare to walk, but the hiking trails are well marked and easily manageable.
