See wildlife and traditional houses at Musee Vivant, a small zoo within a vast park. Compare different species of crocodiles from Lake Tanganyika and the Rusizi River, and visit enclosures with a leopard, a chimpanzee, and antelopes. Terraria house banana green snakes, gaboon vipers, cobras, boomslangs, and pythons, while rare fish from Tanganyika swim in the aquarium. You'll have the chance to pet a crocodile or hold a snake. The museum's cultural component involves a thatched hut displaying a collection of traditional tools from a Burundi village, as well as photographs of past royalty. I had read that the Living Museum was more of a zoo. I didn't like the state of the animals in the museum, they didn't look too happy in the tiny enclosures and they're not well taken care of... more »
Lovely! the experience is worth it Nice guide doing their best to make people enjoy the moment.. the complicity with animals is remarkable. Ps: There's a crocodile trained to be gentle. U can do anything with it!
mixed feelings... I personally do not like zoo cause the animals are supposed to be in the wild but if these animals may not be able to survive in the wild due to drastic change of climate and illegal poaching. I didn't enjoy my visit at this place but I'm grateful to see the staff are helping and feeding these animals in the zoo. I really hope, the entrance fee we paid for are enough to build a better place for these poor animals.
